Tactical Firearm Training in Cape Town

Tactical training is what comes after competence, not instead of it. Everything here assumes you can already handle your firearm safely without thinking about it — because from this point on, the thinking is spent on the problem in front of you.

The day is about decisions under pressure: drawing when it is justified, moving while you shoot, using cover properly rather than hiding behind it, and knowing when the right answer is not to fire at all.

Assessed against 123510 — Apply tactical knowledge in the use of firearms, with the firearm-specific tactical unit standards for handgun, self-loading rifle and shotgun.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need previous training?

Yes. You need to be safe and competent with your firearm before this is useful or safe for anyone on the line. If you are not there yet, start with the basic course for your firearm type.

Is this the same as Regulation 21?

No. Regulation 21 is the annual business-purposes assessment. Tactical training is a skills course. Many security officers do both, and they serve different purposes.

Can you train an armed response team?

Yes, and it is worth doing as a team rather than as individuals — the movement and communication work only makes sense with the people you actually work beside.
