Two days · For owners who already hold a licence
Next course · Thursday and Friday · Eight places
The next run of this course. Eight places, held in the order people pay. Get in touch and we invoice you. Both are full days on the range — please make sure of your time off before you pay.
Included: instruction over both days · range time · targets · a certificate of completion
You must hold the licence for the handgun you bring. This is practical training, not a competency course — it carries no unit standards and does not produce a competency certificate. Need the competency first? Start with handgun training.
Eight places only. We confirm the exact round count when you book so you can buy your ammunition in good time — do not leave it to the last week.

Call 065 967 1535You have the licence and you have the firearm. Almost nobody is given the thing that comes next: enough range time, on their own handgun, to stop thinking about the mechanics and start thinking about the problem.
This is two days of exactly that. Day one is your firearm and the fundamentals — how it works, how to strip and clean it, how to look after ammunition, and the grip, stance and trigger control that everything else is built on. Day two moves to drawing, reloading, clearing a stoppage under pressure, moving, and then to scenarios that are actually South African: a passage in your own house at night, and a vehicle.
This is not a competency course. It carries no unit standards, earns no SASSETA credit, and does not produce a competency certificate or a licence. If that is what you need, start with handgun training instead. This course is for the person who already has the paperwork and wants the skill to match it.
Yes. You bring your own handgun and you must hold the licence for it. There is no way around that — possessing a firearm without a licence is an offence, and we check at registration on the morning.
No. This is practical training, not prescribed training. It carries no unit standards and earns no SASSETA credit. You receive a Cape Town Firearm Training Academy certificate of completion for the practical training you did. If you need a competency, do the handgun course instead.
Because you should be shooting the ammunition you actually carry, and because it keeps the course price down. We tell you the exact round count when you book so you can buy it in advance — do not leave it to the week before.
No. Day one starts at the fundamentals and assumes nothing. The two days are built as a progression precisely so that somebody who has not shot in years can start at the beginning and still get to the scenario work.
Call or WhatsApp us on 065 967 1535, or send an email. We invoice you, and your place is held once the payment reflects — there are eight places and they go in the order people pay. No banking details are published on this website; ask us and the invoice carries them.
The shooting is. The carry work is not one-size-fits-all — where a firearm can be carried, drawn from and concealed depends on how you dress and how you move, and that part is worked through individually.
Bookings are essential — call or WhatsApp 065 967 1535, or email info@capetownfirearmtraining.co.za, and we will confirm a date and tell you exactly what to bring.
