Regulation 21 Training in Cape Town

Regulation 21 is the training and assessment the Firearms Control Act requires of anyone who carries a firearm for business purposes — security officers, armed response, cash-in-transit crews, close protection officers and the companies that employ them.

It is not a once-off. Regulation 21 re-assessment must be renewed every year, and an expired one is the most common reason a security company gets caught short on an inspection.

We run Regulation 21 every Thursday at False Bay Firearm Shooting Range in Glencairn — handgun, shotgun, self-loading rifle and manual-operated rifle. Bookings are essential. Companies bringing more than 10 participants can arrange a discount.

Frequently asked questions

How often must Regulation 21 be renewed?

Every year. Regulation 21 re-assessment is an annual requirement for business-purposes firearm users, and it lapses on its date whether or not anyone reminds you.

Do I get a Statement of Results for Regulation 21?

No. Regulation 21 lists the unit standards involved, but the assessment is not an award against those unit standards, so no SETA Statement of Results is issued for it. You receive a Regulation 21 certificate.

Can you train my whole security team?

Yes. Thursdays at False Bay are set up for exactly that, and a discount can be arranged for groups of more than 10. Call us and we will book your team a slot.

Where does the live fire happen?

At False Bay Firearm Shooting Range in Glencairn. Our SAPS accreditation permits live-fire training only at an accredited range, and False Bay is the range we work with.
